Daphne Joan Winifred Eatwell sadly passed away on the 13th of January 2026, aged 95 years.
Daphne was born in London in 1930 to Lionel and Winifred Griffiths. She grew up in Surrey along with her younger sister Jill and brother Brian. While Daphne’s father continúed to work in London, the rest of the family moved to the relative safety of Bournemouth during World War II and Daphne stayed there a year longer to complete her education at Bournemouth Grammar. She worked in banking in London and in 1952 she married Douglas Eatwell. They had three children, Robin, Wendy and Jacky, and, after initially living in Pinner in Middlesex, they moved to Kent in 1960 with their young family, staying there for the rest of their lives.
Daphne worked for Martin Hamblin Market Research company for many years, and on retirement enrolled with the open university and completed her BA degree. She also continued working part time for the market research society until she was 80.
Daphne had a love of gardens and gardening throughout her life. She was an active participant in the Plant Heritage group for many years. She and Douglas also spent many happy times on their boat on the Medway.
Daphne also loved dogs, her grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
