John Francis Chessman passed away peacefully on14th January 2025 with his family around him.
Son, brother, husband, dad, grandad and great grandad, he was always up for a family occasion.
By trade an engineering draftsman, a working life designing and building power stations.
Always a keen sportsman and fan, he also enjoyed angling, woodworking, drawing especially with his grandchildren; and most enduringly gardening with vegetables taking pride of place.
The gardener, with his spade and hoe,
Works in the sun and rain and snow;
He digs and plants and waters too,
And watches over what he grew.
So let us all be gardeners fair,
And tend to life with love and care,
And watch the seeds we plant come through,
To bloom and flourish, strong and true.
