It is with great sadness that we announce on the behalf of his family the passing of the late Philip Wood on the 14th of June 2025.

Philip's funeral service will take place on Wednesday 2nd of July at Dewsbury Crematorium at 10:30am.

Philip was born on the 26th of March 1948 to Hilda and Edwin Wood who raised him in Thornhill, Dewsbury. In 1971 Philip married Jean Firth and made a home and life together in Mirfield until they went on their separate paths in 1981. 

Philip returned to Thornhill for a spell and then settled in Ossett with his second wife Pat until 1998. Philip later relocated to Allerton in Bradford around 2009 where he spent the rest of his days. 

Philip had worked at Camira Fabrics, formally Interface in Metham, Huddersfield for a number of years and he retired from there in 2013. He did some work for them in Lithuania during his time of which Philip was proud of. 

Philip loved to Travel... and travel he did mainly around the eastern bloc countries as well as Asia. The notable places were Russia, China, Goa, Vietnam, Lithuania, Poland, Bulgaria and Spain and regularly spending a month at at time in Benidorm.

Philips favourite hobby was to find the cheapest beer in town! A man who enjoyed a bit of banter, acting the fool and joking around.

Philip leaves behind his beloved Daughters Maxine and Hayley, his much loved Grandchildren Justine, James, Holly and Jessica. Philip was also blessed with his Great grandchildren Lewis, Rhys and Phoebe. Philip will also be missed by his Brother Michael and Edwina.

Family flowers only please. Donations in the memory of Philip would be much appreciated, with all monies going for the benefit of Breast Cancer UK. A donations box will be left at the exit of the chapel on the day of the service for this purpose.
