It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the late John Clapham.
John was born in Exeter Street off Otley Road in 1955. Later moving to Otley Road and Fagley before eventually leaving Yorkshire for Blackpool with his beloved mother and step father. After working around Blackpool in the bars and clubs for a number of years he eventually returned to West Yorkshire and settled in Halifax with his partner Lynn. He gained employment from Carroll Cleaning Company and stayed with them for 14 years until his retirement at 70 years old in January 2025.
John would spend his time relaxing with his puzzle books which I assume he got from his mother who also loved them. John loved socialising with his friends in his local pubs in and around Halifax. He also enjoyed listening to music, especially Gene Pitney and Roy Orbison.
John leaves behind a son Johnathan, his beloved brother Keith and many nieces and nephews.
John was a quiet friendly man who would do anything for anyone and will be sadly missed.
John's funeral service will take place on Tuesday 13th May at D Walsh & Sons Private Chapel. 700A Manchester Road, BD5 7QH @ 1pm.
Family flowers only please. Donations in the memory of John would be much appreciated, with all monies going for the benefit of Bowel Cancer UK. A donations box will be left at the exit of the chapel on the day of the service for this purpose.
