It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mum, Gloria Hudson, known to many as ‘Bobbie’. Mum passed away at home, wrapped in the love of her family, at the age of 100.
She was a devoted, wonderful mother and our inspiration, full of life, hope and love, She radiated warmth and kindness, always the first to offer a helping hand to anyone in need—whether they were family, a neighbour, or a complete stranger. Her gentle, caring nature shone brightly right until the very end.
Mum was fiercely independent, adventurous and sociable. She loved to travel, meet new people and explore new places. She loved to laugh with friends and she loved to dance. She also loved her garden, often working from dawn to dusk to create a garden full of vibrant colour and wonderful scents that was a haven for local wildlife.
Mum was a war time Wren and was very proud to have served her country. She was still marching in Remembrance Day Parades until her mid nineties. She would march with determination and a straight back, even when, in the later years, this became hard for her. Her time in the Wrens, and later the Merchant Navy, gave her an inner strength, enabling her to face any adversity with a remarkably positive attitude. We were, and always will be, immensely proud of her.
Although Mum did not follow a specific religion, she always held a quiet faith that our journey continues somewhere beyond this life. I truly hope that is true and that she is now happily reunited with her beloved husband Bill, along with her own mum and dad and the dear friends who went before her.
We miss you more than words can say Mum. The last year was so hard for you, and while our hearts are broken we take comfort in knowing that you are now free from pain and at peace. With love always, Joy and Mark
