The world lost a beloved mother, sister, auntie and friend Margaret Neilson (Nee Kilkie), on 18 December 2023. She passed peacefully at the QEU Hospital, Govan, Glasgow. Margaret was born in the same hospital (then called the Southern General) on September 30th 1956 to Jimmy Kilkie and Rebecca (Ruby) Halliday.
Margaret worked as a senior care worker at many Glasgow care homes including Crookston Home. Her colleagues knew her as a dedicated soul, always willing to cheer the residents up with a kind word or action. She was a prolific reader including particularly the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child. She was a life long fan of Rod Stewart, following him around the world with her friend Ann Marie. In her retirement she dedicated her time to her garden and her beloved dogs and cats.
Margaret's parents Ruby and Jimmy and nephews Gary and Jonny passed away before her. She is survived by her son David, his partner Becka and her brothers Martin and Bernie.
Friends and relatives are invited to say a final goodbye to Margaret at the Craigton Crematorium on the 9th January at 1.30pm followed by a reception at the Crookston Hotel, Crookston Road Glasgow at 2.30pm.
Instead of flowers please consider making a donation to Margaret’s nominated charity CALM.
