It is with deep sadness that the family of Alistair Macrae, of Ullapool, Ross-shire, announce his peaceful passing at the age of 87 on Monday, 21 July 2025, at West Suffolk Hospital following a short illness
Alistair was the beloved partner of the late Anne Oien, a dearly loved father to Callum (Nanette) and Sheena (Rob), a cherished ‘Grandy’ to Iona, Katie and Ella and great-grandy to Ivy. He was a devoted grandad to Anna, Andrew and Kathy and was a proud big brother to Iain. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A cremation service to celebrate Alistair's life will take place at West Suffolk Crematorium, Risby, Bury St Edmunds, on Tuesday, 19 August 2025, at 1:30pm. Following the service, all are welcome to join the family for refreshments at Bury St Edmunds Golf Club, Tut Hill, Fornham All Saints, IP28 6LG. For those wishing to attend, please inform the family in advance. Alistair’s ashes will be interred in Ullapool at a later date.
Family flowers only, please. Donations in Alistair's memory, if desired, may be made below in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, a cause close to his heart.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at The Limes Retirement Home, Mellis, Suffolk, for their care and compassion.
