It is with such great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Pearce; a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
Bill was born and raised in Dagenham, Essex, to Louise and Henry Pearce, alongside his sister and brother, Deborah and David. He met his soon to be wife, Brenda, in 1973 and went on to enjoy 51 years of marriage devoted to each other and to his role as father to Christopher, Alexander, Harriet and Richard.
Bill delighted in his family and especially adored his nine grandchildren: Amelia, Francesca, Beatrice, Nathaniel, Jacob, Henry, Arabella, Raffaela and Alicia; all of whom benefited from his loving attention, energy, unending patience in conversation and propensity for play.
Bill loved books and bookshops, having a thirst for knowledge - the more obscure the better! He enjoyed walking holidays in Swaledale and Cornwall, and many years of Center Parcs trips with the family. Bill would turn his hand to tennis whenever needed and kept his promise to finally learn to Ballroom dance with Brenda. Aside from spending time with family, Bill was at his happiest book in hand with a Golden Delicious apple and a cup of Earl Grey tea.
He was a loyal, thoughtful and generous man, always ready to listen and offer advice or take part in the silliest of games. Grandad Bill's shoes cannot be filled.
There will be a formal committal at The Fenland Crematorium for family members, followed by a Service of Thanksgiving at St Marys Church, Ely, where we hope you can join us to celebrate Bill's life.
Traditional black attire is not required.
