It is with the greatest sadness that we announce the passing of the late James 'JIMMY' Duffy.
Jimmy was born in Bradford and brought up in Whetley Hill Bradford 8 then later moved to West bowling. He attended St’Patricks catholic school and left at the age of 14 years. He worked with his dad for a short while but then started an apprenticeship with Morrells builders of Abbscott lane -Wibsey where he worked his way up in the company to site foreman, he remained with the company until retirement in 1997.
Jimmy liked to keep himself busy, he joined a cycling club in his younger years and would cycle all over at weekends, later buying himself a motorbike... a Matchless 350.
He loved his job and every Saturday after shopping in Bradford he would drive to A C Jones hardware store in Whetley Hill to look for some tool or other that he really didn’t need!! He also enjoyed doing jobs for family, gardening or going for a pint with his good friend Peter Gough and in his later years with Peter and Terry to the club with no windows to watch Terry play snooker on Wednesday nights !!
Jimmy leaves behind his brothers Peter, Terry and Derek along with his Nephews Darren, Gary, Christian, Warwick, Tony, Michael and Graeme and his Nieces Lisa, Julie, Susan and Denise. Jimmy will be greatly missed, a man who loved and was loved by all.
Jimmy's funeral service will take place on Friday 30th May at St Joseph's Catholic Church, Pakington St, BD5 7LD @ 10:00am with the committal to follow at Scholemoor Cemetery.
Family flowers only please. Donations in the memory of Jimmy would be much appreciated, with all monies going for the benefit of Alzheimer's Society. A donations box will be left at the exit of the church.
