From 9 September 2024, there will no longer be a doctor's fee in England and Wales when arranging a funeral. This is because from this date, all deaths in England and Wales will be independently viewed, either by a relevant coroner or by a Medical Examiner and the cost will be met by the NHS.
A Medical Examiner is a specifically trained independent senior doctor who will scrutinise all deaths across a local area that do not fall under the coroner's jurisdiction. By providing a greater level of scrutiny over the cause of deaths; it is hoped that the introduction of Medical Examiners will make it less likely that unnatural causes of death will go unnoticed; that the number of deaths unnecessarily referred to the coroner will be reduced and that national data about causes of death will be captured with greater accuracy.
Medical Examiners, or Medical Examiner Officers, will also be available to meet with families, or their representatives, if they wish to discuss the cause of death.
Everything went well from start to finish, by phone, e-mail and face to face, not helped by me living almost 100 miles away. My wife's wishes were carried out, and she is now reunited with her parents. I thank everyone at Cook's for their help and support!
Thank you for taking the time to send your online review to us. I am pleased that we were able to look after you and your family at this difficult time and provide you with the care and support needed.
We used Cooks in Chesham 10 years ago for my late Father in laws funeral, so sadly when my mother in law passed away we decided straight away to use them again. 10 years on and we still got 100% from them. They were there helping us through a difficult time for all the family.
They went above and beyond by raven finding the vicar that did the funeral 10years ago.
Many thanks
Thank you for an exceptional review. Our team are here to provide the highest level of service for you and we are happy this was achieved. I am glad that you confided in us as a team to take care of your loved one.
Everyone was very sensitive and professional both at Cooks and Dignity
Thank you
Thank you for the kind comments posted on your online review. I am pleased to hear that you found our staff to be professional and respectful and that the service was carried out to your satisfaction.
Cooks are a good local company. Paul handled our mum's funeral with sensitivity and professionalism during a difficult time for the family.
After receiving a throughly unprofessional quote from a place in Amersham, I was reassured and comforted by Paul's professionalism and compassion throughout the whole process. I agree with the other review that says 'Don't go anywhere else". It was a little further for us to travel but was worth it. The staff on the day were also fantastic and responsive. Respectful, efficient and caring.
