At Maesgwyn Funeral Directors in Church Village, we are here to look after you, your family and your loved one in this difficult time. Our responsibility is to put you first and ensure we tailor your loved one’s funeral to your every wish.
You can find our funeral home on Main Road in Church Village; just down the road from The Village Arms and round the corner from Church Village Post Office. We are a pillar of the community and have served the local neighbourhoods of Llantwit Fadre, Beddau, Hawthorn, Rhydyfelin, Glyntaff, Treforest and Pontypridd for many years.
We pride ourselves by providing you with a service of the highest quality. Our main goal is to organise a farewell that is truly unique and personalised to reflect the way your loved one lived their life. You can pick every last detail of the funeral, from the music to the floral tribute, through to the route the cortege takes; no request is too big or small.
Using the experience we have gained over the years, we have arranged funerals of all types. If you have any religious beliefs, we have the knowledge to respect any and all traditions. For your convenience, we are about a quarter of a mile from both the Salem Baptist Church and Bethel Baptist Church. If you are not religious, we can cater for you too; we are equally equipped to deal with non-religious and contemporary ceremonies such as humanist funerals and bright celebrations of life.
Our dedicated team are on hand 24 hours a day to support and assist you with anything you need. You can call us for advice or answer any questions you have.
We are proud to be part of Dignity Funerals, a collection of the UKs finest funeral directors, with each and every one committed to setting superior standards.

With two different packages available, you can rest assured that we'll be able to arrange the funeral you have in mind for your loved one. Learn more about our Attended Funeral, Chapel Service and Unattended Funeral below.
View our Standardised Price List, Additional Options Price List and Crematoria Price List.
Our Attended Funeral includes care of your loved one, a Park Coffin, a service at the place of committal which can be personalised as required for your loved one, followed by a burial or cremation.
When you choose the Chapel Service, our expert Funeral Directors will help arrange a one-hour service in one of our chapels. We will then conduct an unattended cremation with the highest levels of care.
Our chapels offer a peaceful setting where family and friends can remember and celebrate the life of your loved one. Once the ceremony is over, the cremation will take place without family or friends present. The cremation will be carried out with dignity and respect, overseen by one of our professional attendants.
Our Unattended Funeral will best suit your needs if you want to arrange a simple and straightforward cremation without a service or ceremony, allowing you and your loved one's friends and family to commemorate them in your own way.
Choose from a variety of options, including headstones and urns to memorial plaques, vases, statues, jewellery and plenty more. With a Memorial, you can create a tribute that especially reflects the life, love and cherished memories of your loved one.

From 9 September 2024, there will no longer be a doctor's fee in England and Wales when arranging a funeral. This is because from this date, all deaths in England and Wales will be independently viewed, either by a relevant coroner or by a Medical Examiner and the cost will be met by the NHS.
A Medical Examiner is a specifically trained independent senior doctor who will scrutinise all deaths across a local area that do not fall under the coroner's jurisdiction. By providing a greater level of scrutiny over the cause of deaths; it is hoped that the introduction of Medical Examiners will make it less likely that unnatural causes of death will go unnoticed; that the number of deaths unnecessarily referred to the coroner will be reduced and that national data about causes of death will be captured with greater accuracy.
Medical Examiners, or Medical Examiner Officers, will also be available to meet with families, or their representatives, if they wish to discuss the cause of death.

The staff were very professional and came over as caring. Paul did all the arrangements exactly as we asked but unfortunately was away for the actual funeral, he handed over to Russell who was every bit as professional and caring as Paul. I would certainly recommend them.
We are grateful of receiving your online review. I am pleased that you had the trust and confidence in our team to be able to deliver the service you expected.

Cannot ever thank them enough
Thank you for posting your online review. I am pleased we were able to help make things easier for you at such a difficult time and that the service was carried out to your satisfaction.
I cannot thank Paul and his team enough, nothing was too much trouble. They understood that my husband was very clear in what he wanted for his funeral, "absolutely no fuss" but he had chosen all his own music and photo's with our own chosen celebrant. It was a lovely funeral and we could not have done this without Maesgwyn staff. Most professional and respectful.
Thank you for taking the time to send your online review to us. I am glad we were able to provide you with the support and guidance needed and that all of the arrangements were carried out to your satisfaction.
