What does a Dignity funeral director do?

Here at Lynch & McCarry Funeral Directors in Stepps, we are sometimes asked what a funeral director does, or, alternatively, what's a typical day for a funeral director?
Support the Family
There's no such thing as a 'typical' day at Lynch & McCarry Funeral Directors, but it is a 24 hour day. At least one funeral director remains on call outside of normal opening hours. This means if somebody passes away at home, whether it's four o'clock in the afternoon or four o'clock in the morning, there's someone here available to collect the deceased, meet the family and begin offering support.

Although care for the departed is a critical feature of the role, of equal importance is those left behind. Our funeral directors have a particular duty of care, part of which is to reassure the family and help ease their burden. Those experiencing loss will have choices to make regarding the funeral, and a funeral director will aim to give them the confidence they need to reach those decisions.
Supporting family members at a funeral service
Furthermore, in order to make recommendations as to how the funeral could reflect what the deceased might have wanted, our funeral directors will take the time to understand who they were and what they meant to the family. This is all part of the service Lynch & McCarry Funeral Directors provides to the Stepps community it is proud to serve.

But it doesn't end there. As part of the support our funeral directors offer to every family dealing with the loss of a loved one, they also help out with the administrative side of bereavement. This includes guidance on what paperwork is required, along with advice to ensure it is completed correctly and, where necessary, within a timely manner.

The care our funeral directors offer the departed is universal, with every single person receiving the same attentive treatment as part of our 'care of the deceased' process.

To ensure a loved one is looked after in accordance with the family's wishes, our teams, which also include funeral arrangers, embalmers and operatives, perform their duties to the highest standards, from the moment of collection through to the funeral service and final goodbye.

Lynch & McCarry Funeral Directors is thankful to the community here in Stepps for allowing us to support them during the most difficult of times. That is why one of our less recognised, but no less significant, duties is expressing our gratitude.

Whether it's working with local care homes, training the clergy in funeral procedure, or advising other public bodies on care for the deceased and bereaved, being a part of Dignity means our funeral directors are always ready to assist and put a little something back.
