About our Tranent funeral home

Buchanan & Hogg Funeral Directors is a group of funeral professionals dedicated to providing the highest standards of funeral services to local families. We continue to support the community of Tranent by arranging and conducting bespoke funerals, to help families celebrate the lives of their loved ones in a meaningful way.

Our funeral home, based in East Lothian, is equipped with modern facilities and was designed with your comfort and wellbeing in mind.   • When someone dies, the first steps will depend on how and where the person passed away. Our step-by-step guides will walk you through the practical steps. For additional support and personal advice, please get in touch with us.


  • You don't have to make an appointment at our funeral homes. However, doing so will ensure that someone can be available to cater to your needs. When arranging a funeral, our Funeral Directors are happy to visit you in your own home, if required.


  • Third party funeral costs are additional charges which we will manage for you and attach to your single invoice. Get in touch with us to confirm costs and plan a funeral to fit your budget.


  • If you choose to arrange the funeral with us, you will be given the option of a complimentary Funeral Notice. We will set it up for you using the details discussed during the arrangements. All we need is an email address.


  • Dignity Funeral Plans let you pay for your funeral in advance and at today's price. It's a way of taking control of the unexpected, setting out the arrangements and limiting the costs by paying for the services included in the funeral plan upfront.

The service we received from Lee-Ann at Buchanan and Hogg was excellent during the process of arranging mum's funeral. She was sympathetic, considerate and helpful in all our dealings with her. She kept in touch with us regularly whilst waiting for mum's service to take place and we knew we could contact her at any time if we had questions. On the day of mum's service the staff were all courteous and professional. Lee-Ann also arranged the celebrant, Gaynor, for us, who delivered a very moving and personal eulogy. Thank you all for your care and attention at a very difficult time.

The service form Buchanan & Hogg was excellent. From start to finish the procedure was made very easy at a very stressful time. Linda was a great help in explaining things in a very sympathetic way and I knew I could contact her at any time if I needed to.
I was able to see my mother to put my mind at ease, she looked very peaceful and her coffin was well presented. Her hair and nails were lovely, thankyou for taking care of her so well.
The funeral procession was very professional, the limos perfect and staff very courteous, thankyou guys.
Also a thankyou to the celebrant Kay organised by Linda, lovely service which everyone commented on.
Lastly thankyou for the lovely gift of my mothers framed photograph.

I found the staff at Buchanan & Hogg to be very professional. Due to Covid19 the circumstances were different from normal but they still managed to provide an excellent service from the minute I first contacted them until they brought us home from the funeral. The aftercare was most appreciated as well.
