What does a Dignity funeral director do?

At Derriman & Haynes we are often asked what a funeral director does, or what a typical day looks like.
Support the family ...

There's no such thing as a 'typical' day at Derriman & Haynes, but it is a 24-hour day. At least one funeral director remains on call outside of normal opening hours. This means that if somebody passes away at home, no matter what time of day, there's someone available to meet the family and offer support.

While caring for the departed is a critical feature of the role, those left behind are equally as important. Our funeral directors have a particular duty of care, part of which is to reassure the family and help ease their burden. Those experiencing loss will have difficult choices to make regarding the funeral, and we will aim to give them the confidence they need to reach those decisions.
Supporting family members at a funeral service
To make informed decisions about the service, our funeral directors will take the time to understand who the deceased was and what they meant to their loved ones. This is all part of the service Derriman & Haynes is proud to offer the Patcham community.

But it doesn't end there. Our funeral directors also offer help with the administrative side of bereavement. This includes guidance on what paperwork is required, along with advice to ensure it is completed correctly and, where necessary, within a timely manner.

Our funeral directors offer every single person the same attentive treatment as part of our 'care of the deceased' process.

To ensure a loved one is cared for in accordance with the family's wishes, our team of funeral arrangers, embalmers and operatives perform their duties to the highest standards, from the moment they enter our care through to the funeral service and final goodbye.

Derriman & Haynes Funeral Directors is thankful to the Patcham community here in Brighton for allowing us to support them during the most difficult of times, which is why we like to express our gratitude.

Whether it's working with local care homes, training the clergy, or advising other public bodies on care for the deceased and bereaved, being a part of Dignity means being ready to give back.
