What does a Dignity funeral director do?

Here at A Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors in Hull, we are often asked what a typical day for a funeral director looks like.
We support the family ...
At A Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors, there is somebody available 24 hours a day. At least one funeral director remains on call outside of normal opening hours to ensure we are here when a family needs us.

While care for the departed is integral to our role, so too is the care provided for those left behind. Our funeral directors have a duty to serve families in their time of need, part of which includes reassuring the family and helping them at every step of the process. There will be choices that need to be made regarding the funeral, and a funeral director will aim to give those who have experienced loss the confidence needed in order to make important decisions.
Supporting family members at a funeral service
Our funeral directors will always take the time to find out about the deceased, including who they were and what they meant to their family. This is all part of the service A Shepherd & Son provides to the Hull community it is proud to serve.

Part of the support offered to every family dealing with the loss of a loved one is guidance with the administrative side of bereavement. This includes advice on what paperwork is required, along with ensuring it is completed correctly and, where necessary, within a timely manner.

The care for the deceased provided by our funeral directors is universal, with everyone receiving the same care and attention as part of our service.

To ensure a loved one is looked after in accordance with the family's wishes, our funeral arrangers, embalmers and operatives always perform their duties to the highest standards, from the moment we first meet the family, through to the funeral service and final goodbye.

A Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors is thankful to the families of Hull for allowing us to support them during a very difficult time. We express this gratitude by contributing to the communities we assist.

From working with local care homes to training the clergy in funeral procedure and advising other public bodies on care for the deceased and bereaved, being a part of Dignity means our funeral directors are always ready to give something back to those they serve.
