What does a Dignity funeral director do in a typical day?

Here at R C Payne & Son Funeral Directors, we are often asked what a funeral director does, or find ourselves talking about a ‘typical’ day in this role.
Supporting the family ...
The question about a 'typical' day is a difficult one to answer because at R C Payne & Son Funeral Directors, there is no such thing. Each day is as long and as busy as it is rewarding. We always ensure that at least one funeral director remains on call outside of normal operating hours. So when somebody passes, we can be with their family in the shortest time possible, no matter the hour of day or night.

Because we don't just care for those who have passed. We are also there to offer empathy and practical support to those who have been left behind. This is all part of our duty of care, which ensures that those experiencing loss will understand the process they must go through, and the choices they should make regarding their loved one.
Supporting family members at a funeral service
Unless it has been previously discussed, it can be difficult to make decisions regarding the funeral of a loved one. Families may feel under pressure to deliver the service they would have wanted. At R C Payne & Son, our funeral directors are experienced in helping loved ones make the right choices by taking the time to learn more about the deceased, and what they meant to the family who have been left behind.

That's not all. A practical part of the service our funeral directors offer is support with the often complex admin associated with bereavement. This could include information about the paperwork that must be completed and the timeframe within which it needs to be completed.
Funeral procession at a woodland burial
Our funeral directors are proud to offer the same universal care to each person they attend to. This is part of our 'care of the deceased' process and should reassure you that no matter your situation or requirements, your loved one will be looked after in accordance with your wishes.

To make sure this is the case, our team is highly trained and takes pride in the quality of care they provide. From embalmers to those who arrange the funerals, and everyone in between.

R C Payne & Son Funeral Directors is grateful to the people of Shirley for reaching out to us for support during truly difficult times. That's why we want to say thank you, and it's also why we look for ways to give back to the local community where possible.

Whether it's working with staff at a local care home, training a member of the clergy in best practice funeral procedure, or advising a public body to aid their work with the bereaved. Our Dignity funeral directors are always pleased to assist the wonderful organisations and people within our local community.
