About Us

Scales are a Blackburn funeral directors that was established in 1940. Back then, we were known as Gibsons. Our Lancashire funeral home was originally a public house called the Duke of York. This was believed to be the oldest pub in Blackburn, dating back as far as 1790. Our founder, Jim Gibson, bought the pub in 1989 and transformed it into the professional funeral directors that it is today.

We will provide a compassionate funeral that will be carried out with the best standards of care, giving the departed a bespoke and dignified farewell. Get in touch to find out how we can help you.

Our Simple funeral is available for £1,995 + third party costs, without compromising on the quality of the service that is delivered. Or our Full Service funeral can be tailored just how you wish, whether that be a traditional ceremony or a colourful celebration of life.
