About our Kirkby funeral home

Welcome to Ken Gregory & Sons Funeral Directors in Kirkby-in-Ashfield. We have been helping the families of Pinxton, Selston, Newstead and beyond since the late 1970s in their time of need.

Built under the guidance of Ken, Chris and Ann Gregory opened this funeral home with nothing but a “board on the street”. It was their love and commitment to the families that surround them that helped them become the reputable and professional funeral directors that they are today.

It is with the same commitment and compassion, that has been instilled in us by our founders, that we promise to take care of you, your loved one and all the funeral arrangements.

We understand how difficult and confusing this time can be, which is why we will take our time to ensure you are comfortable with all the funeral arrangements being made.

How you want to say goodbye to your loved one is completely up to you. Just let us know what your preferences are, whether that is a cremation, a religious service or a bespoke ceremony to celebrate the memory of your loved one.

No detail is too small to account for and your comfort is always important to us. We have a fleet of cars and a memorial display available to view and a private chapel of rest, should you wish to visit your loved one before the day of the funeral.

  • When someone dies, the first steps will depend on how and where the person passed away. Our step-by-step guides will walk you through the practical steps. For additional support and personal advice, please get in touch with us.


  • You don't have to make an appointment at our funeral homes. However, doing so will ensure that someone can be available to cater to your needs. When arranging a funeral, our Funeral Directors are happy to visit you in your own home, if required.


  • Third party funeral costs are additional charges which we will manage for you and attach to your single invoice. Get in touch with us to confirm costs and plan a funeral to fit your budget.


  • If you choose to arrange the funeral with us, you will be given the option of a complimentary Funeral Notice. We will set it up for you using the details discussed during the arrangements. All we need is an email address.


  • Dignity Funeral Plans let you pay for your funeral in advance and at today's price. It's a way of taking control of the unexpected, setting out the arrangements and limiting the costs by paying for the services included in the funeral plan upfront.

The service we received from Ken Gregory & Sons was excellent from start to finish. The staff we met in the office (Lucy & Claire) were more than helpful, fully understanding of our requirements and above all totally empathetic with us. They sourced us a Nottingham Forest 'Order of Service' and arranged and organised the floral tribute with the Nottingham Forest club badge. On the day before the funeral, we had a call from Matt who talked me through the process and explained each step of the plans for the day. On the day itself he did exactly what he said and much, much more. The cars were impeccably clean, and the drivers were totally respectful. The small touches make a massive difference.
Overall, this was my first experience of dealing with organising a funeral. I found Ken Gregorys to be thoroughly professional in their approach but at the same time to be totally understanding and caring and wholly sympathetic. I cannot think of any instance where I could fault any of the service we received.

The staff at Ken Gregory & Sons Funeral Directors for both funerals for my Dad in November and my Mum in April were excellent and caring at every stage.

Mum had picked the same casket for herself as my dad and burial in the same plot but unbeknown to us the parish council had changed the criteria and were not allowing anymore caskets in the cemetery and the first we knew about this was after it had all been sorted by the staff at Ken Gregory. They had contacted the parish council and pointed out that my Dad had been buried there 6 months earlier in a casket and they had also conducted a funeral the previous day in a casket! At a very difficult the staff at Ken Gregory and Sons had taken this worry away from us and what I feel was above and beyond the service they were providing.

Everything for both services were excellent, nothing was rushed and having them by our side gave us great support throughout.

At this difficult time you need someone to guide you through the process of sorting the funeral.The staff at Ken Gregory in Kirkby did everything to make this as easy as possible. They were friendly, caring and professional and never made me feel like they were just doing their job. I thank them all most sincerely.
