From 9 September 2024, there will no longer be a doctor's fee in England and Wales when arranging a funeral. This is because from this date, all deaths in England and Wales will be independently viewed, either by a relevant coroner or by a Medical Examiner and the cost will be met by the NHS.
A Medical Examiner is a specifically trained independent senior doctor who will scrutinise all deaths across a local area that do not fall under the coroner's jurisdiction. By providing a greater level of scrutiny over the cause of deaths; it is hoped that the introduction of Medical Examiners will make it less likely that unnatural causes of death will go unnoticed; that the number of deaths unnecessarily referred to the coroner will be reduced and that national data about causes of death will be captured with greater accuracy.
Medical Examiners, or Medical Examiner Officers, will also be available to meet with families, or their representatives, if they wish to discuss the cause of death.
Lorraine was wonderful. She was caring and compassionate from the outset and kept in touch regularly. The funeral was exactly as planned. I would have no hesitation in recommending John Bardgett.
First class service given by Joe Lannin in arranging and guiding the family through the difficult time of the passing of the husband and father of the family. His calm manner, helpful suggestions as to flowers, a Celebrant to conduct the service (who was an excellent choice) and general advice made a very stressful time bearable. I would fully recommend Joe who is a very valuable asset to his Company.
A painless process when you are going through so much pain, my Mam had a funeral plan that we were not aware of. It took away a lot of the stress and decision making that is a struggle when a close family member passes away. We were supported through out by Joe and the team with regular phone calls and seamless communication which allowed us to focus on making the funeral something I think my Mam would have wanted.
I wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank you for the exceptional care and professionalism you provided during Dennis Forrest funeral services, especially Natalie. Your support, kindness, and attention to detail brought a sense of comfort during such a difficult time for our family. We are deeply grateful for everything you did
I came to Bardgetts by a recomendation and iam so glad i did I had been given the job as an executor so this was a first organising a funeral. Must admit the building is very large and old so entered it feeling a bit nervous , that very quickly changed when i met Natalie. She advised me on everything and very quickly put me at ease . I then met Joe who was equally helpful , keeping intouch every couple of days to make sure everything was to plan . Nothing was too much trouble . The day of the funeral was perfect . All i can say is i highly recommend this great team ! .. Thankyou all x
