What do funeral directors do?

Our funeral director from E F Edwards Funeral Directors is a friendly and reassuring professional, here to help you navigate these difficult times.
Looking after the family
At E F Edwards Funeral Directors every family we attend to, we do so with nothing but the utmost respect and care. Having the trust of our local families, to look after their loved one, is a privilege and a responsibility that we do not take lightly.

It is our duty to guide and support the family at every step of the process and to help them through the initial stages of grief and loss, by looking after the arrangement details on their behalf and offering a listening ear.

Furthermore, we will always have one Funeral Director on call outside of regular office hours, to make sure we are there for the family when they need us, whether that is at 4 am or 4 pm.
Supporting family members at a funeral service
We are here to help families honour the memory of their loved one in a way that represents them and the life they lived. To do so, we listen to the family members carefully and make sure all the details of the service, no matter how big or small, are how they should be.

Moreover, we are here to guide the family and take on the task of liaising with relevant third parties to make sure the funeral goes ahead in a timely manner.
Funeral procession at a woodland burial
As part of Dignity Funerals, a nationally accredited and renowned company, we take careful measures to ensure that everyone receives the same high standards of care and service, and everything is in accordance with the family’s wishes.

From when we first collect the person who has passed away, through to chapel visits (if the family so wishes) and to the final goodbye, our team is here to ensure everything goes smoothly.
Funeral flowers placed on coffin lid
Here at our Gravelly Hill funeral home, we are grateful to be part of a community that trusts us in their time of need. It is something we do not take lightly and do all we can to give back and show our appreciation.

We are always open to helping local charities in any way we can and take part in outreach activities to help train local clergy in funeral procedures and advise care homes and other public bodies on how to best support those recently bereaved. Everything we do, we do to help and support our families better.
