Gerald W Burden Funeral Directors, Amesbury
About our Amesbury funeral home
From our funeral home on Church Street in Amesbury (opposite the Abbey Church of St Mary and St Melor), we serve families in both the local and surrounding communities. Our location makes us easily accessible to nearby towns and villages, such as Durrington, Tidworth, Bulford and Shipton Bellinger.
Our caring team of funeral directors is committed to ensuring your wishes for a funeral are met. We will tailor your farewell to the preferences of you and your family, providing guidance and advice when you need it, so you are not left to make the decisions alone. If you want a religious or a non-religious ceremony, a traditional funeral or something with a more unique feel, we will help to arrange it for you.
If you want to spend some time in quiet contemplation with your loved one, we have a chapel of rest on our premises. This peaceful environment offers a quiet space in which to collect your thoughts in comfort and privacy. We are also able to open the chapel of rest outside of normal hours, so that you can pay your visit at a time more convenient for you.

Reviews of our services
To put things into context: Mother's death had been unexpected and sadly, the Coroner was involved which delayed creation of the death certificate by over 2 weeks. Furthermore, because of the Pandemic (Covid-19) the actual cremation was not until 1 month after the certificate had been issued - all very vexing, especially as I was dealing with everything on my own. However, there was a kind, empathetic voice (Paula Cook) always on the end of the phone if I needed it. Paula has one of those rare abilities in that she 'listens' and consequently takes account of what was said and acts accordingly - quite a rare quality in this day and age! Paula's colleague Louise was also very kind and helpful and consequently deserves a mention. The ceremony was exactly what I wanted and in all probability would have been what my Mother wanted; simple, no fuss, brief and most of all dignified. I can't say enough how much I was grateful to the funeral directors and the appointed Celebrant - given the circumstances, they made everything perfect.

Professional, thoughtful and compassionate.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this service.
Although my mother had organised her funeral a few years beforehand, we were contacted every step of the way to confirm any last minute changes and details.
My thanks to Paula And Mark for making it special..I know my mother would have loved it!!
Nothing was too much trouble and the day was as perfect as could be.
Highly recommend Paula and the rest of Burdens, Amesbury.
