We arranged a funeral with Pickards and Beale for my father. When visiting they were very understanding and helpful, even helping my mother into the building with her wheelchair. Care and professional. Everything was taken into consideration.

We cannot thank the team enough for everything they did and we would recommend going to Pickard and Beale.

The behaviour of this funeral director is unacceptable. I was greeted by the funeral director with sexist slur as I was navigating through high street when I met the hearse coming my way (couldn’t see it before because of parked cars by church). I pulled in as much as I could and waited respectfully, and was going to let the stream of cars behind the hearse past. Next thing I know I hear moronic misogynistic language from the funeral director to two of the male funeral party about women drivers and what to do with them - I put my window down and challenged him on this where he shouted at me ‘there was plenty of space’.

I am perfectly capable of navigating a narrow space thank you, I was being respectful of the funeral party and not pushing past - my point proven when the cars I then had to pass shouted further abuse at me asking ‘couldn’t you have waited’. Yes, I was hoping to do that before I had this sexist dinosaur talking to me!

Next time - just be kind and behave like an adult in 2025. I was being respectful and waiting for the right moment to move (ie when the other cars had gone), you could have handled this like a professional business and walked up to my car to politely say I could move on. Not making ridiculous outdated assumptions to other men about why I wasn’t driving off. Did it make you feel big and important doing that? Did you possibly have an issue with the vicar being female too? Pathetic. This is a business to AVOID as unprofessional, if they’re this casual about being disrespectful, I’d hate to think what they privately say about their clients and their families.
