From 9 September 2024, there will no longer be a doctor's fee in England and Wales when arranging a funeral. This is because from this date, all deaths in England and Wales will be independently viewed, either by a relevant coroner or by a Medical Examiner and the cost will be met by the NHS.
A Medical Examiner is a specifically trained independent senior doctor who will scrutinise all deaths across a local area that do not fall under the coroner's jurisdiction. By providing a greater level of scrutiny over the cause of deaths; it is hoped that the introduction of Medical Examiners will make it less likely that unnatural causes of death will go unnoticed; that the number of deaths unnecessarily referred to the coroner will be reduced and that national data about causes of death will be captured with greater accuracy.
Medical Examiners, or Medical Examiner Officers, will also be available to meet with families, or their representatives, if they wish to discuss the cause of death.
I would like to thank David and Angela for their professionalism, sensitivity and care in arranging my brother’s funeral. They reassured us and nothing was too much trouble. They took good care of my brother whilst in his care and treated him with dignity. For a horrible distressing time they made it less stressful and more bearable. We can’t thank David and Angela enough for the beautiful service my brother had and all there advice, suggestions and support.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. I am pleased that we provided the highest level of care and guidance for you and your family and all of your wishes and requirements were carried out by the team as you had requested.
Outstanding service from everyone involved with Phillips and Dignity.
The passing of both my parents in such a short space of time was really hard to deal with, but David the funeral arranger was incredible in how he looked after us, understanding the grief and heartache we were going through, nothing was to much trouble and so easy to deal with, we just asked and it was done.
The professional attitude, respect, care of my parents and presentation was really top notch something that I’m so grateful for.
On the day of the funerals everything was perfect, Spencer along with all his colleges showed the upmost respect and professionalism at all times, we can’t thank them enough.
I really do recommend this funeral directors so much, we’ve actually decided to make sure these people look after us on our departure, just not yet I hope.
We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience online with us. It helps other families in their time of need. I am pleased that you had the trust and confidence in our team to be able to deliver the service you expected.
I found all of the employee,s very curtious , respectful and helpful. They made a difficult time a lot easier with knowledge, care and understanding. I was able to do all the processes needed at my speed, I never felt rushed or stupid when I asked questions. The care offered by Phillips for myself and my family was second to none. They took care of my mother with the respect and dignity at all times. They were profesional yet very human. I am so thankful for the little touches they provided at a very difficult and upsetting time.
Thank you for taking the time to send us your online review. Your feedback is always valuable to us and I am glad that all of your wishes and requirements were carried out by the team as you had requested.
Excellent service
We have received your online review. I am pleased that you were so well looked after by our team and that all of the arrangements were carried out to your satisfaction.
David has been excellent, respectful nature and conversation was very comforting, the service you provided over all was superb, took away the stress and worry and ensured everything was taken care of from the newspaper acknowledgement, flowers and arranging the non religious humanist for the service, nothing was to much trouble and communication on arranging the funeral again was excellent. My cousin was well looked after at Phillips and presented looking peaceful at the chapel. The day of the funeral went so well, Spencer our director on the day was so respectful as was the rest of our team. Myself and the family are very happy the service Phillips provide and have over the years been the family's preferred funeral directors.
Thank you for the kind comments posted on your online review. I am pleased that we provided the highest level of care and guidance for you and your family and that the arrangements for your Cousin were carried out to your satisfaction.
