The funeral can be tailored to suit your preferences, so if you have something special in mind that will make it all that more personal to you and your family, we will ensure it is part of the ceremony, regardless of whether you choose a religious or a humanist service, something traditional or a more contemporary reflection on life.
Our reputation as a longstanding provider of professional funeral care means we will always put you and your loved one first. Founded in 1763, we have always served the area we love, establishing ourselves in nearby Pilton before moving, in 1957, to our current funeral home at The Croft in Shepton Mallet.
The distinctive building is located on West Shepton (opposite the King William pub) and we are easily accessible to surrounding towns and villages in the Mendip district, including Glastonbury, Evercreech, Gurney Slade, Oakhill and Stoke St Michael.
The chapel of rest on our premises was the first in the area and allows you to spend time with your loved one in a peaceful and private environment. We can open up outside of our normal hours if it is more convenient for you.
Our team of advisors is available to listen, day or night. Call us whenever you feel you are ready to talk. We are here for you.

From 9 September 2024, there will no longer be a doctor's fee in England and Wales when arranging a funeral. This is because from this date, all deaths in England and Wales will be independently viewed, either by a relevant coroner or by a Medical Examiner and the cost will be met by the NHS.
A Medical Examiner is a specifically trained independent senior doctor who will scrutinise all deaths across a local area that do not fall under the coroner's jurisdiction. By providing a greater level of scrutiny over the cause of deaths; it is hoped that the introduction of Medical Examiners will make it less likely that unnatural causes of death will go unnoticed; that the number of deaths unnecessarily referred to the coroner will be reduced and that national data about causes of death will be captured with greater accuracy.
Medical Examiners, or Medical Examiner Officers, will also be available to meet with families, or their representatives, if they wish to discuss the cause of death.

On behalf of my family I would just like to say a very big thank you to RW Connock for arranging the funeral of my father David Lintern. Marilyn was especially professional in dealing with the arrangements and we can't thank her enough.
I cannot recommend, & thank A. Connock & sons enough,we were not rushed into making any decisions & all options were explained. their professionalism, sympathy & kindness of all the team was exceptional. Again on the day of the funeral we were not rushed.
Also, Thankyou so much to the celebrant Kimberly ,who visited Charles & her expression of Charles words for the eulogy were brilliant, thankyou Kimberly
Thankyou A. Connock & sons.
Thank you to Alfred R W Connock and son in Shepton Mallet. A Massive thank you for the heart warming non rushed process delivered from Marion, Sally and the team. Every thought and detail was delivered with high excellence. Everyone was so understanding, caring, and went out their way from organising, to reflection visits to the day as good as it could be in the circumstances. Arranging everything down to my Dads truck being part of the day. A big thank you espeacially to Marion and Sally, an absolute credit to the company. And to Stephen the celebrant making the service so personal to my Dad love to you all Amanda x
I thought I was dealing with a family run business but no this is a massive faceless company. They have their way of doing things and don't want to waiver from it. The pomp and ceremony they encouraged is nothing but ridiculous, who wants a hurst being escorted out of their premises but a woman in a top hat? I employed their recommended celebrant, a very pleasant man, but total waste of money, he tried rewriting my eulogy! Worst of all after the funeral, I was phoned many times for a feedback as to how I thought it went, really? , just as i was starting to stop shaking from being bereaved I am reminded again and again.
Thank you for your 1-star review and for telling us about your experience. I am very sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the service you received. If you do wish to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact our Complaint Resolutions Department. They are available Mon – Fri, 9 am – 5 pm. Thank you.
We were given excellent advice guidance & support throughout the whole process of our fathers funeral & cremation.
I am pleased to hear that our team were so kind and caring to your family.
