We are Gordon Rodwell Funeral Directors, your local funeral home in Felixstowe since 1971.
The Rodwells used to be carriage masters and provide vehicles for other funeral directors. Gordon then decided to open his own funeral home to provide high standards of care to the people of Felixstowe, Trimley St Mary, Walton and beyond.
It is from these humble beginnings that we now endeavour to help you and your family through this difficult time. We promise to take good care of your loved one and to honour their memory by organising a farewell exactly the way you think would be best.
No detail is too small to take into account, everything from the type of funeral to the flower arrangements will be personally taken care of.
Our funeral home has a private chapel of rest, one that can be made available out of normal working hours, should you wish to spend some time with your loved one before the day of the funeral.
Your and your family's comfort is our priority so we are always available to come see you to make the arrangements in the privacy of your home. You can contact us at anytime you need, our team is always available to offer help, advice or a listening ear.
We are proud to be part of Dignity Funerals, a collection of the UKs finest funeral directors, with each and every one committed to setting superior standards.

From 9 September 2024, there will no longer be a doctor's fee in England and Wales when arranging a funeral. This is because from this date, all deaths in England and Wales will be independently viewed, either by a relevant coroner or by a Medical Examiner and the cost will be met by the NHS.
A Medical Examiner is a specifically trained independent senior doctor who will scrutinise all deaths across a local area that do not fall under the coroner's jurisdiction. By providing a greater level of scrutiny over the cause of deaths; it is hoped that the introduction of Medical Examiners will make it less likely that unnatural causes of death will go unnoticed; that the number of deaths unnecessarily referred to the coroner will be reduced and that national data about causes of death will be captured with greater accuracy.
Medical Examiners, or Medical Examiner Officers, will also be available to meet with families, or their representatives, if they wish to discuss the cause of death.

An excellent level of care demonstrated from start to finish. Your Funeral Director, Tom, in particular was very good and a real asset to the business. Within minutes of speaking to Tom on the phone, my family and I felt that everything was under control and that with Grandad in Gordon Rodwell's care, he would be in safe hands. Thank you once again for the personal and compassionate service that you provided.
