Henry Paul Funeral Directors

Tracing our Polish war heroes

Henry Paul Funeral Directors was in close proximity of several cemeteries, which meant memorial masonry played a big part in their service to the community. This specialism has continued over the decades, which has led to the restored graves of the Polish war heroes buried in South Ealing.

Ludomil Rayski and Marian Zimmer are two of the recovered graves so far. Ludomil was a pilot who flew 1,519 hours of RAF combat missions during the Second World War. Marian was a Major in the Polish Army who fought at Monte Cassino in Italy, 1944. He was awarded Poland's highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy, the Virtuti Militari.

Henry Paul in the later years

Today, Henry Paul Funeral Directors has grown and flourished, expanding to have funeral homes in Hanwell, Ruislip Manor and Ickenham. In 1990, the Hanwell funeral home was once a service centre for Dignity funeral directors from Southall, to Richmond and Shepherds Bush.

The Ickenham funeral home was once an old post office by the village pond, which had become over grown with weeds and contained a lot of rubbish by the 20th century. The funeral directors sponsored the local Scout Troop to clean the pond and return it to how it once looked.
