Richard Frederick Lundie, known to most as Richie, passed away peacefully in his sleep early on August 11, 2024. Richie was born in Camberwell on July 30, 1938.
Richie's pride and joy was his family. He is survived by Daphne, his wife for 65 years, their children - Paul and Jane, Karen, Sandra, Robert and Martin; eight grandchildren - Jodie, Dean (Rachel), Jack (Sam), Dan (Kirsten), Hollie (Danny), Connor (Kelly), Emily (George) and Rosie (Lewis); and ten great grandchildren - Logan, Ella, Harry, Montague, Daphne, Wilfred, Annabel, Tabitha, Primrose and Hope. Richie also loved spending time with all his other family members and friends including his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Richie spent his national service in the Navy. Afterwards, he worked in the insurance industry spending most of his career with Orion Insurance based in Folkestone followed by owning a franchise of Swinton Insurance.
Richie loved talking with people and took immense pride and enjoyment from working lunchtimes at County Fayre, his family's shop, for the last 14 years. He enjoyed his gardening and walking his children’s dogs.
Just days before he passed, Richie wrote in his 65th wedding anniversary card to Daphne “As a team, we did great. As our brilliant family is a testament to that. 1959, no mistake, just when I got so very, very lucky.”
All his family and friends would say they have been the lucky ones to have had such a good man in their lives.
The family feel that Richie would prefer that you spend your money on your own family and friends making new treasured memories rather than spend your money on donations in his memory.
