Charity donations for funerals
Many families choose to remember their loved one with donations in lieu of flowers. This guide will explain how to arrange charity donations for the funeral.
How to select a charity and ask for donations
There may be a specific charity that was important to the person who has sadly died, so make sure you take this into consideration when choosing where the money will be donated to.
Funeral donations can be made in several ways. At Dignity, we can make all the necessary arrangements and send the money to your chosen charity following the funeral service.
Funeral donation box
You may opt for a funeral donation box, allowing guests to make donations at the end of the funeral service. This can be arranged and collected by your chosen Funeral Director. We will either give you the donations before the wake or send it to the charity of your choice four to six weeks after the funeral, allowing for further donations to be made.
At Dignity, we also ask for the charity to send you a letter of acknowledgement, confirming that they have received the funeral donations.
Obituary
If you decide to place an obituary in the local newspaper, you may want to mention the chosen charity and provide information about how people can donate in memory of your loved one.
