'We are devastated to announce that Simon Fishwick, Director and Centre Manager at Barton Turf Adventure Centre, Husband of Sheila and Father to Di, Karen and Peter died peacefully at home on Monday 13th December 2021 holding Sheila's hand. He had taken a step back from his role at BTAC earlier this year due to a diagnosis of esophageal cancer. Simon spent the main part of his working life as an electrical engineer for the CAA and Eurocontrol before retiring to work at the Adventure Centre. He had a lifelong passion for design and development of boats, canoes, sails, computers, gadgets and houses and was a committed member of numerous organisations including the RNLI, IET, AYRS, OCSG, BTAC, RYA, RINA, NWT and BTO as well as many other sailing and canoeing clubs and groups. He will be greatly missed by all. Simon's funeral is Wednesday 5th January 2022 at 1.15 at St Faiths Crematorium, Manor Road, Norwich, NR10 3LF. Followed by tea and cakes at Coltishall church rooms, Rectory Road, Coltishall, Norwich, NR12 7HP. We currently do not know what covid restrictions will be in place however if you would like to attend please email di@btac-services.co.uk to book a space. Messages to Sheila and the family can also be sent to this email or dropped into the Adventure Centre postbox.' The family have asked if people could wear shirt and knitted jumper, if you have one, instead of a mourning suit or all black, as Simon was known for his collection of patterned fair isle jumpers and hated wearing a suit and tie. Family flowers only please but donations to the RNLI can be made by either clicking on the "Make a donation" button at the top or the bottom of the page or if you'd rather donate to Cancer Research UK then please send a cheque made payable to Cancer Research UK to Gordon Barber Funeral Home, Horning Road West, HOVETON, Norwich, NR12 8QJ
