It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Dickson Gemmell.
He passed away peacefully in the early hours of Saturday 27th January surrounded by his family.
Dickson was former Captain of 152nd Glasgow & founding Captain of 1st Strathaven Company of The Boys’ Brigade.
He joined the Church of Scotland in Maryhill and was an elder in Strathaven, Kirkcaldy and finally Stonehouse.
He was a member of many choirs and former President of Stonehouse Male Voice Choir.
He was a founding member of Rankin File drama group in Strathaven.
Dickson will be cremated in a private service for family and close friends on Monday 12th February followed by a service to celebrate his life to which all are Welcome.
The service will be at 12:00 at St Ninians Parish Church Stonehouse followed by a light lunch at the Avon Bridge Hotel, Hamilton.
The family request that no flowers are sent but instead donations be made to Cancer Research or British Heart Foundation.
