Iain Howden quietly left us Sunday, 30th June 2024 at the age of 92.
Beloved husband of the late Leeza Howden (2022).
He leaves behind his children, Martin Howden and Alison (Brad) Zorian and four grandchildren,
Rosslyn Howden, Julie (Shane) Kivell, Bronwyn Zorian (Kurt Broad) and Colin Zorian,
three great-grand children, Tillie Bowker, Rowen Bowker and Emmett Kivell.
He was the baby of the family and predeceased by his parents the late Isobel and James Howden,
as well as four siblings, Isabella (Fred) Bennett, Fay (James) Robertson, Barbara Howden and James (Molly) Howden.
Iain was of two worlds, one in Canada and one in Scotland. He immigrated to Canada in 1969, where along with his first wife raised their two children in Stratford and Waterloo. He joind the optimist club, enjoyed Scottish Country Dancing and coached and refereed kids soccer. He was a lithographer by trade and in the 1980's joined the University of Waterloo as a custodian. When the opportunity arose after retirement, he moved back to Scotland to spend his remaining days. This is where he met a wonderful lady and married Leeza in 2002. They enjoyed holidays, day trips, and visits from family in Canada. Iain also enjoyed lawn bowling.
A big thank you to everyone at the trauma ward at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, and ward 73 at the Western General Hospital, and to Ellens Glen House in Edinburgh, for their kindness and exceptional care.
At Iain's request there will be no service and his ashes will remain at Warriston's Garden of Remebrance.
