Our Standards

At Dignity, we are committed to providing people with the highest standards of services and care, helping our clients every step of the way when they need us most.

Here to set the standard in funeral care

We are here to make a difference. For every family who needs us today and for generations to come. With over 4,000 people working across 570 branches and 46 crematoria, we are building something bigger than any one funeral. We are working to make the UK the most caring, supportive and trusted country in the world when it comes to end of life care.

Thoughtful care for you and your family

Every person's experience of losing someone matters. We take great pride and care in everything we do, from meeting a family for the first time, to how we support you after a funeral.

We have high standards that shape how everyone at Dignity works. They sit at the heart of how we run our business and support the people who rely on us. We continually evolve these over time, informed by real experiences and the trust families place in us.

That includes launching tools like our Ashes Finder, so people can easily check whether we are caring for a loved one’s ashes and contact us directly if they are unsure.

Making the whole industry better

We have always taken the lead when it comes to improving funeral care. We launched the UK's first funeral plan in 1985, giving people greater control and peace of mind. We campaigned for greater oversight of the industry, contributing to the introduction of regulation by the FCA in 2022.

When other funeral plan providers collapsed, we stepped in to support over 60,000 people who might otherwise have gone without the funeral they were promised.

We believe everyone deserves the highest standards of care, wherever they live, whatever they choose. That is why we are currently investing £10 million to bring best practice from Scottish regulation into every part of our business. And why we would welcome the introduction of the same regulatory standards across the UK.

Building a more sustainable future

We're continuing to make long term investments into how we operate, investing £20 million since 2023 to reduce the environmental impact of our crematoria.

From greener funerals to more efficient facilities, we are committed to change that lasts.

We are also investing in the future of our people. From nationwide training to apprenticeships and professional development, we want to make funeral care one of the most rewarding careers in the country.
