What is the role of a Dignity funeral director?

Our Kingstanding funeral directors are here to support the community in various ways.
Looking after the family
At Hodgson & Sons Funeral Directors, our telephone lines are open 24 hours a day. This ensures that if a loved one passes away at home, whether that is at four o’clock in the afternoon or morning, we will be there to take them into our care and offer the family the support they need at this difficult time.

Taking care of those dearly departed is one of our core roles, a role that we take seriously by ensuring they are looked after in accordance to the family’s wishes and that our facilities are maintained to the highest standards. However, offering support and guidance to those left behind is equally important to us. Our funeral directors are always here to offer support and guidance to the family.
Supporting family members at a funeral service
One of the critical roles of our funeral directors is to ensure that the day of the funeral goes smoothly whilst also paying homage to the dearly departed. To do this, our funeral directors take the time to talk to the family, listen to them carefully to understand how the deceased lived their life and what was important to them.

Additionally, our funeral directors are here to support the family however they can. This includes taking care of the more administrative side of bereavement and offering support and guidance on what paperwork is required.

As part of Dignity, we have a standardised “Care of Deceased” process, that ensures each one of our clients receive the same attention and care.

Above our standard process, we also consider the family’s wishes when we look after their loved one. This includes embalming, dressing the loved one in their own clothes and anything else the family might wish to include. From the moment of collection to the final goodbye, we will look after their loved one, with nothing but the utmost respect and care.

We are honoured to have the Kingstanding community trust us to look after their loved ones and for allowing us to support them during a difficult time; it is not something we take for granted.

We work with the local care homes, local clergies and other public bodies to ensure everyone is up to date with funeral procedures and can provide the appropriate support to the families when needed. Being part of Dignity means our Funeral Directors are always ready to help and support the local community.
